Creed Silver Mountain Water Review
Creed Silver Mountain Water is one of the most popular high-end fragrances in the world as well as one of the flagships of the Creed perfume line. Although marketed toward men, it is a unisex scent that was inspired by master perfumer and championship skier Olivier Creed’s trip to the Swiss Alps; the crystal clear water against snow-capped mountains (in fact, the coloring of the Creed Silver Mountain Water bottle was purposely designed to look like a snow-covered mountain).
As with almost all Creed scents, Silver Mountain Water is released in Millesime strength, which is comparable to Eau de Parfum, one of the strongest and most concentrated forms of perfume.
Creed Silver Mountain Water Fragrance Notes
The fragrance itself has a “refreshing infusion of green tea and black currants”. When you experience it, it gives you the same sensation as really cold air during winter – crystal clear and sharp but invigorating.
The fragrances notes (top notes, middle notes, and base notes) are as follows:
- Top Notes: Bergamot, mandarin
- Middle Notes: Green tea, black currant
- Base Notes: Galbanum, musk, sandalwood, petit grain
Comparing Silver Mountain Water to Other Creed Scents
Although they share the word “water” in the name, I don’t really feel that you can compare Creed Royal Water with Silver Mountain Water. Whereas Silver Mountain Water is clear and sharp, Royal Water is sot and luxurious; it is like comparing crisp, cool linens to cashmere. Both are good in their own way and have a place in your well-appointed wardrobe.
Who Wears Creed Silver Mountain Water?
Many famous celebrities, executives, and heads of state wear Silver Mountain Water. These include David Beckham, Jamie Foxx, Tommy Tune, David Bowie, Veronica Castro, Nikki Taylor, Ricky Martin, Jennifer Lopez, James Gandolfini, Eva Herzigova, and Mary Tyler Moore.
Sizes and Prices for Creed Silver Mountain Water
There are four sizes in which you can purchase your bottle of Silver Mountain Water. They are:
- 1.0 ounce / 30 ml travel size bottle, which retails for $130.00
- 2.5 ounce / 75 ml bottle, which retails for $225.00
- 4.0 ounce / 120 ml bottle, which retails for $270.00
- 8.40 ounce / 250 ml bottle, which retails for $350.00
You can save a lot of money on Creed Silver Mountain Water by purchasing an 8.4 ounce flacon bottle, which requires an atomizer. On a per ounce basis, it is almost 70% less than the 1 ounce travel size bottle.
If you contact Creed or your local Creed representative at Neiman Marcus, Saks, Bergdorf Goodman, Halls, or other fine high-end department stores, you may even be able to purchase larger bottles, such as 17+ ounces at greater economies of scale.
The price difference on a per ounce basis is substantial if you opt or smaller bottles. For example, the 1 ounce bottle of Creed Silver Mountain Water costs $130 per ounce but the 8.40 ounce flacon costs only $41.67 per ounce. The flacon requires an atomizer, which must be purchased separately. Personally, I buy the 4.0 ounce bottles of Creed until I decide whether it is one of the “core” fragrances I want in my life and only then will I upgrade to the flacon bottles.
You should note that Creed controls its distribution model tightly. You cannot buy Creed fragrances at a discount. The only way you will ever see a bottle of Creed selling for less than retail is if it is 1.) counterfeit, 2.) past its shelf life date and department stores won’t sell it for the sake of their reputation, or 3.) used. Really. We promise – it just isn’t possible and you will probably be cheated out of your money if you try to be clever.
